Under the leadership of Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa, a three-judge panel of the Pakistan Supreme Court heard a case involving Ali Khan, a petitioner who wanted the February 8 general elections to be ruled invalid.
The bench also includes Justices Musarrat Hilali and Muhammad Ali Mazhar. The plaintiff’s attorney stated at the beginning of the hearing that his client want to withdraw the plea because they did not want to continue with it.
The Supreme Court cannot be the target of such a practical joke. Justice Isa said, “Bring the petitioner from wherever and present him before the court. The bench will hear the petition.”
In the meantime, the SHO of the jurisdiction in which the plaintiff resides was instructed by CJP Qazi Faez Isa to bring Ali Khan before the court.
After notifying the plaintiff through the defense ministry, the further hearing on the plea has been postponed until February 21.
Plea
A private petitioner petitioned the Supreme Court, requesting that it declare the general elections on February 8th invalid because of purported breaches of democratic norms and electoral integrity.
In order to guarantee justice, accountability, and transparency, the petition requested that the court call for fresh elections to be held in 30 days under the direct supervision of the courts.
