Three police officers hurt as power protesters grow rowdy in Karachi

Three policemen were hurt here on Sunday as a demonstration against protracted power shutdown and finally suspension of water supplies got violent in Manghopir, near New Nazimabad.

The demonstrators stopped roads and obstructed traffic to protest against frequent power outages and scarcity of water which made their lives terrible.

Police were deployed in the vicinity of the demonstration to check any untoward incident. But the outraged mob grew aggressive and caught hold of three policemen and gave them a hard thrashing. Consequently they were injured. They were identified as Head Constable Saad Gul, Constable Shehbaz and Arsalan.

The demonstrators raised shouts and torched tyres against protracted and unscheduled power shutdowns and water shortages. They stated they were passing through mental and bodily tribulation and discomfort owing to power interruption and requested relevant authority to redress their complaints.
