Three traffic officers martyred in Tank gun attack:

Three traffic police men martyred as militants opened fire on a police vehicle in Tank district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

After the incident, the remains of the murdered officers were moved to the District Headquarters Hospital.

The armed assailants fled from the scene following the gunfire and police initiated a search operation in the neighborhood.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi condemned the incident and expressed condolences over the killing of three police personnel. He paid tribute to the dead cops, and extended his sympathies to their families.

Naqvi said the government was with the families of the dead in their hour of grief and the sacrifices of those who had been martyred in the fight against terrorism will not go in vain.

The incident comes at a time when a number of attacks have been reported from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. An incident in Lakki Marwat district had killed three individuals and injured three more a day before.

Earlier, at a checkpost in Dera Ismail Khan, 12 people were killed and 35 injured in a suspected suicide explosion and gunfire.

At least 21 people were killed and more than 100 others wounded in an attack during Friday prayers at the old police lines in Kohat on September 18.
