A unique traffic control strategy has been released by the Islamabad Traffic Police in advance of the “Marka-e-Haq” festivities.

The plan calls for traffic diversion on several of the city’s main thoroughfares from 6:00 p.m. until 12:00 a.m.

The Motorway from Faizabad to Khayaban Chowk and Faisal Avenue will also continue to be restricted to traffic, as will the Srinagar Highway from Koorianwala Chowk to Peshawar Mor.

It is recommended that drivers driving to the motorway from Murree and Bhara Kahu take Murree Road and IJP Road, while those travelling from the motorway to Murree should take Ninth Avenue and Colonel Sher Khan Road.

Drivers are advised to utilise Margalla Road or Jinnah Avenue when travelling between the Red Zone and Rawalpindi, and Faquir-e-Azam Road or Ninth Avenue when travelling from Rawalpindi to Islamabad.

In a same vein, vehicles from Peshawar Mor to Rawat should take Ninth Avenue, Stadium Road, and Rawal Road, while those from Murree to Rawat are urged to utilise Park Road and Lehtrar Road.

Light transport vehicles (LTVs) will also be rerouted from Rawat to Rawalpindi between 5:00 p.m. and midnight.

All heavy traffic will be prohibited from entering the city between 4:00 am and midnight on May 10.
