In a separate act of terrorism that was reported from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), three officials—including a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP)—were injured in the early hours of Tuesday during an encounter with terrorists in Mardan’s Zada Mata area, and Superintendent of Police (SP) Ijaz Khan was martyred.

The incident broke out as terrorists and law enforcement forces engaged in a heavy-handed gunfight that resulted in SP Ijaz Khan’s martyrdom.

A spokeswoman for the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) verified the occurrence and stated that the courageous SP was shot at random by the terrorists.

The DSP was among the injured authorities who were sent to the hospital immediately to get critical care.

Two wanted militants were neutralised as a consequence of police forces taking revenge on the terrorists during the operation.

The operation, which targeted terrorists in the Katling neighbourhood of Mardan, was intelligence-driven, according to sources within the police department.

Meanwhile, District Police Officer (DPO) Mardan and other distinguished members of the law enforcement community attended the sombre funeral prayers for the deceased SP Ijaz Khan at the Police Lines.

However, Qaisar Khan, a police officer, too accepted martyrdom after being shot and killed on Monday night in Peshawar by motorbike riders.

At the Malik Saad Police Lines, policeman Qaisar’s funeral prayer was said. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kashif Aftab Abbasi was present, along with other law enforcement officers.
