YDA boycotts OPDs in Balochistan over women doctor acid attack
An acid attack on a lady doctor inside Quetta’s Civil Hospital has sparked anger among doctors and hospital personnel, with the Young Doctors Association (YDA) announcing a boycott of all out-patient departments across Balochistan.
The Young Doctors Association boycotted all services in government hospitals in the province, except for the emergency wards.
Young physicians protesting against acid attack on their female colleague organised a protest rally in Quetta. The protesters raised shouts against the Balochistan health secretary and MS Civil Hospital for not providing sufficient protection to the doctors.
They demanded the suspension of the Balochistan Health Secretary, the MS and the security in charge of Civil Hospital aswell.
In a statement, Balochistan’s Home Affairs Adviser Babar Yousafzai stated that the Chief Minister Balochistan Sarfraz Bugti would meet the physicians on arrival in Quetta today (Monday), adding that the government would accept their legitimate requests.
The first medical assessment said Dr Mah Noor, the victim of an acid attack, is out of danger and in satisfactory condition. She is under treated at a private hospital in Karachi at present.
Meanwhile, the Chief Minister of Balochistan announced a civil award for Abdul Razzaq Tareen for his gallantry in assisting to save the life of the female doctor.
