In the midst of continuing talks about fiscal allocations, the government and the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) are scheduled to consult on the federal budget today.

President Asif Ali Zardari’s PPP delegation will meet with a government team to discuss issues pertaining to the budget.

The party’s negotiating committee, which consists of Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Murad Ali Shah, Naveed Qamar, and Sherry Rehman, will meet with Zardari before to the discussions.

Following the PPP’s internal consultation, the meeting time with the government team will be decided.

The federal government is requesting Rs1.7 trillion from the provinces, according to sources.

Budget preparations are still dependent on obtaining the necessary finances, according to Rana Sanaullah, the prime minister’s adviser on political affairs.

In the open market in Lahore, wheat can fetch up to Rs 4000 every 40 kg.
Flour is being sold by private businesses for twice as much as wheat.
