Saad Rafique criticises the PPP for attributing the GB government crisis to the PML-N.
According to PML-N leader Khawaja Saad Rafique, there is no basis for criticising or criticising the PML-N because, following the Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) elections, the PML-N’s top leadership contacted the PPP and promised collaboration in the establishment of a government.
According to Khawaja Saad Rafique’s remark on X, the PPP earned roughly 28% of the votes in the Gilgit-Baltistan elections, while the PML-N obtained 22%.
According to the unofficial and unconfirmed results, he added, the PPP won 10 seats, the PML-N won 6, and the PML-N also backed two independent candidates.
According to him, the PPP chairman is fully aware that within 72 hours of the elections, the PML-N’s top leadership contacted President Asif Ali Zardari and the PPP leadership, indicating their intention to assist the PPP in forming the government by acknowledging the PPP as the single largest party in the Gilgit-Baltistan elections.
According to Khawaja Saad Rafique, the PML-N’s purpose was to shield Gilgit-Baltistan from political bargaining and horse trading, therefore the PPP leadership has no right to level allegations and treat the PML-N with disdain.
He stated that the Election Commission is solely in charge of conducting by-elections in a few constituencies on June 15.
He claims that one PML-N seat’s results have also been contested.
The PML-N further stated that the PML-N cannot be criticised for forming the government in Lahore by people who utilised every strategy to obtain local government in Karachi and broke their commitments to the MQM on the PML-N’s guarantee.
According to Khawaja Saad Rafique, the PML-N respects the PPP’s leadership, but mutual respect is essential for mutually beneficial political relationships.

Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan chairman Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman called a countrywide shutter-down strike after 12 Rabi-ul-Awwal over the petroleum levy, stating the government would have to decrease the petroleum costs.
Talking to a news conference in Lahore, Hafiz Naeem said their campaign was going in the best possible way and added that the government will have to cut down the pricing of petroleum goods.
He claimed the country cannot move forward in the presence of flour and sugar mafias and appealed to the people to come up and join their resistance. He also added that farmers were not obtaining fertilisers at affordable costs while government officials were utilising costly automobiles using taxpayers’ money.
The Jamaat-e-Islami head stated they would observe a country-wide strike after 12 Rabi-ul-Awwal, adding that negotiations would not be held on the basis of assurances to halt the sit-in. He said the sit-in will continue until the government practically accepted their requests.
Hafiz Naeem also stated the petroleum levy, which he called a type of extortion tax, should not be enforced under any circumstances and the government would have to cut petrol prices.
If their demands were not accepted they would march on Islamabad, they said. No one could stop them and no Jamaat-e-Islami worker would hesitate to make sacrifices.
It may be recalled that Jamaat-e-Islami has been organising sit-ins outside governors’ residences around the country against the petroleum levy, with the protests entering their eighth day today.
