Gilgit-Baltistan celebrates Independence Day with national fervour
— November 1 is being commemorated as the Independence Day of Gilgit-Baltistan with national zeal and patriotic fervour to commemorate the independence of the territory from Dogra rule in 1947.
The people of Gilgit-Baltistan won their struggle for freedom from Dogra domination and for accession to Pakistan on November 1, 1947.
On that day Gilgit Scouts and local fighters heroically fought against Indian soldiers and flew Pakistani flag in the region. After a year of battle, Baltistan was likewise freed from Indian domination on 14th August, 1948.
During the struggle of liberation the valiant fighters of Gilgit-Baltistan beat their enemy and saved the province from falling into Indian hands.
The fights fought during the course of the liberation movement are seen as important chapters of military valour. The people of Gilgit-Baltistan showed fortitude even after independence and played an important part in the Pakistan-India wars.
Meanwhile, on the occasion of Independence Day of the region, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) has published a special patriotic song, titled Shaan-e-Pakistan, Gilgit-Baltistan.
The song has poetry of famous Gilgit-Baltistan poet Zeeshan Mehdi and is sung in powerful voice of JJ Ali Sheena.
The patriotic song is a reflection of people’s love for Pakistan, their national identity and emotional attachment to the country. It also throws light on the historic fight of Gilgit-Baltistan for liberation and the pride connected with its linkage with Pakistan.

Binance to resume withdrawals after recovering bulk of $6 billion in stolen funds
The world’s biggest cryptocurrency exchange, Binance, said it would restart withdrawals in phases, after it recovered 95% of the $6.3 billion in tokens taken from the site in the world’s greatest digital crime, which the FBI has linked to North Korea.
Binance said the phase will begin between 0600 and 0900 GMT on Sunday and will include bitcoin, ether, BNB, Solana, XRP, dogecoin and other tokens.
Binance tweeted on X late on Saturday that the other 5% of the stolen tokens are less liquid and may take longer to source in the proportions needed.
On Saturday, the FBI blamed the attack on a North Korea state-sponsored squad known as TraderTraitor.
Pyongyang has always denied deploying state-linked cyber teams for espionage, financial theft and profiteering. It did not respond to demands for comment from its Geneva mission and its embassy in China.
Law enforcement saw members of the unit turning stolen assets into the cryptocurrency ethereum, the FBI said in a statement, adding it anticipated “further laundering” of the assets using related technology.
