Comedian Ali Gul Pir has announced the joyous news that he and his wife Dr Azeemah Nakhoda have had their baby son Salar Gul Pir.

He announced the birth on Instagram and also wished himself a Happy Father’s Day!

In his message, Ali wrote that he loved his new born son and praised his wife calling her the greatest blessing in his life.

He added, “From the second I held Salar for the very first time, I wanted to give him all the happiness in the world and protect him from every pain.

“Life won’t always be easy for my son,” Ali said as well. There will be sad times, there will be hard times, and there will be lessons to learn.

But he swore he would always be there for his son, support him and love him as a parent.

The touching letter accompanied images Ali posted from the hospital, precious family moments and their journey home with newborn Salar.

Many celebrities and fans have congratulated the newlyweds. Actress Hira Khan commended Ali saying that he would be a fantastic father. Actress Aiman Khan also wished her the best.

Salar’s birth is a wonderful and happy new chapter in Ali Gul Pir’s life as he celebrates first Father’s Day as a parent.

— The Punjab government has decided to put surveillance cameras in marriage halls, marquees, farmhouses and huge restaurant chains as a part of wider monitoring and tax enforcement strategy.

The decision was decided in a revenue-related meeting headed by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif. It also discussed suggestions to mandating digital payments in large eateries instead of cash transactions, with a revenue goal of ₹528.5 billion for the financial year 2026–27.

Cameras would be deployed at marriage halls, marquees, farmhouses and large restaurant chains as per the new monitoring plan, officials added. Strict action will be taken against anyone issuing fraudulent receipts or hiding sales.

He said the globe has shifted from cash to digital systems and Pakistan may also follow the same route. She said there will be zero tolerance policy on tax evasion and surveillance cameras and digital technology would be deployed to detect discrepancies.

Maryam Nawaz Sharif has asked the concerned agencies to submit weekly reports on tax collection and mapping on sector basis. She also directed Punjab Revenue Authority to enhance enforcement capacity, human resources and implement current technologies.

She also directed to enhance the media arm of the Punjab Revenue Authority to educate the public about taxation and the grounds for taking enforcement action should also be clearly explained to the public through media.

Officials reported at least 14 people died Monday in a fire at a facility in Lucknow, India, that houses a library and a tutoring center for college students.

The fire in Lucknow, the capital of the northern state of Uttar Pradesh, started from the middle floor of a three-storey commercial structure in a residential area and quickly spread to other floors.

Fourteen children from happy families were killed in the event, the state’s deputy chief minister Brajesh Pathak told reporters, adding that four others were injured in the conflagration.

It was not immediately clear whether all the dead were students.

Many pupils escaped the flames by jumping from the upper floor of the building into the street below, witnesses told an AFP reporter.

Indian television showed photos of flames roaring out of the front facade of the building as firefighters battled to douse the fire.

The facility contained a coaching centre for college students, a library and a computer graphics area.

In India, numerous building fires are the result of lack of firefighting equipment and routine disrespect for safety laws.

Poorly maintained wiring and electrical short circuits are still the top causes of fire occurrences in India.

Pathak said stern punishment will be taken against those found guilty.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi was “anguished by the loss of lives”, and in a social media post his office announced more than $2,100 in relief money for each family.

It was not immediately clear what caused the latest incident, which occurred around two weeks after a fire at a hotel killed 21 people in New Delhi.

In March, 10 critically ill patients were killed in a fire at a government hospital in eastern India.

In 2019, 43 manufacturing workers sleeping in a building in the old quarter of Delhi died in a fire.
