The Pakistan Navy and the Pakistan Coast Guards have confiscated 2,000 kg of narcotics in a joint intelligence-based operation near the Gwadar coastline in collaboration with the Joint Maritime Information conjunction Centre (JMICC), the Pakistan Navy stated on Sunday.

“The operation was conducted in Pishukan Gwadar and the officials recovered 1,500 kg of hashish and 500 kg of crystal methamphetamine (Ice),” the statement issued by Directorate General Public Relations (Navy) said.

The Pakistan Navy said the estimated international market value of the seized shipment was roughly US$215 million.

The statement added the narcotics were being shipped through the Arabian Sea for transmission to overseas locations.

The recovered drugs have been handed over to Pakistan Coast Guards for further legal measures and investigation.

“The successful operation proved the effectiveness of inter-agency coordination in combating narcotics smuggling and other illicit maritime activities,” the Pakistan Navy stated.

The operation also demonstrated the resolve of the Pakistan Navy to prohibit the use of Pakistan’s maritime domain for unlawful activities and improve maritime security along the country’s coastline, it added.
