Trump Secretly Flew From Turkey Amid Threat From Iran, Report Finds

Published

on

– U.S. President Donald Trump left Turkey this month on a secret military jet while the White House stated he was aboard Air Force One, an extraordinary step taken because of an Iranian assassination threat.

Trump had flown the recently renovated, Qatari-donated aeroplane to Ankara for the NATO meeting, but surprisingly utilised an older Air Force One before departing the nation, raising worries about the newer plane’s security.

The flight to NATO was the new plane’s first international voyage, and its quick improvements drew worries about its cost and security as hostilities with Iran, which shares a border with Turkey, increased.

Before left Ankara, Trump stated on Truth Social he would take an older baby blue Air Force One plane “for old time’s sake” to RAF Mildenhall in Britain while the new plane made a stop at the same location so U.S. service people stationed there could see the aircraft.

An old Air Force One brought Trump to Ankara, where he appeared before cameras, but then he was surreptitiously spirited away in an airport food truck to a smaller jet, an Air Force C-32A, said a U.S. official familiar with the operation and who saw corroborating material.

A source said the deception effort was launched when Trump faced a real danger. A similar operation was performed in 2000 when President Bill Clinton flew into Pakistan aboard an unmarked executive plane, with his formal Air Force One as decoy.

In this instance, journalists who thot they were flying on the older Air Force One, which was effectively deployed as a decoy, said they were told to keep their window shades down in the press cabin. A source added several White House workers, other than reporters, also thot the president was on board.

Later, when questioned by reporters why they had to keep their shades down during the flight, Trump responded it was because they were “probably on a dangerous flight.” He went on to say: “But if I go, you go. Correct?

The C-32A carrying Trump landed in Britain at about 10:20 p.m., with the older Air Force One and journalists arriving minutes later, a source said. It wasn’t apparent how Trump was relocated from the C-32A back to the older Air Force One, the article added.

Trump’s travelling press pool said he stepped off the stairs of the older Air Force One around 10:56 p.m. UK local time.
He flashed press a peace sign but didn’t walk over to chat to them.

He then spent some time visiting service members before walking over to the new plane provided by Qatar.

When asked for a reaction to the disclosure of a covert travel aboard a third plane, the White House issued a statement from Communications Director Steve Cheung, who stated that the Qatari-donated jet has been equipped with high-level security systems to guarantee the safety of the president and his staff.“America has many enemies who have their eyes on the President, as he recently said, and we use every tool at our disposal to address those threats,” Cheung added.

NEPRA suggests grid sharing charges for high rise buildings

The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has suggested increased grid sharing charges for high rise structures and amendments in electricity connection rules for industrial consumers.

Proposed revisions to the Consumer Service Manual state that buildings using dedicated transformers with a capacity of over 500 kVA would be made to pay grid-sharing charges.

Even under current regulations, buildings of ground plus three storeys are not considered to be multi-storey or high-rise buildings and are hence not required to pay grid-sharing payments. The suggested revisions would alter the existing setup.

NEPRA also suggested that distribution companies may be allowed to provide multiple industrial, commercial or bulk supply connections at the same premises, with up to three feeders and combined load of up to 15 megawatts, subject to technical feasibility and availability of capacity at the existing grid station.

The proposed adjustments also affect fees for industrial and steel furnace customers, and revise the conditions for interim disconnections and reconnections.

Distribution firms may also be permitted to impose detection bills for up to 12 months for registered consumers employing fraudulent meters, changing meter readings through software or Bluetooth devices, freezing load profiles or compromising billing meters. The planned detection-bill period would be capped at six months even for domestic consumers.

The public comments on the proposed revisions have been invited by NEPRA and stakeholders have been given 30 days’ time to offer their views till October 25.The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has suggested additional grid-sharing costs for high-rise structures and amendments in electricity connection rules for industrial consumers.

Six dead in Athens building explosion, four Americans among the victims

 – Six people have died after a two-storey residential building in a tourist area of central Athens collapsed, the Greek fire brigade said on Saturday, following an explosion that the mayor said was likely linked to gas infrastructure.

The explosion killed four Americans, US officials said.

Emergency crews in heavy gear and red helmets, assisted by rescue dogs, cameras and sensors, found the bodies of six people, fire brigade spokesman Vassilis Vathrakogiannis said in a televised briefing.

They were looking for an elderly couple who lived in one apartment and four tourists who were staying in another as they removed debris from the building.

The fire brigade’s crime investigation unit was also on site to identify the cause of the blast after reports of a gas smell in an area that is home to hotels and short-term rentals.

The tourists, two American couples, had been expected to catch a flight from Athens airport at 3 p.m. on Friday but did not show up, a police source said.

Ambulances stood by on Saturday to take the bodies to the hospital for identification.

“I am deeply saddened to learn of the death of four American citizens in yesterday’s explosion in central Athens,” Kimberly Guilfoyle, the US ambassador to Greece, posted on X.

The blast destroyed the building in Plaka, near some of Athens’ most visited sites, including the Acropolis and the Temple of Zeus, damaging nearby houses, shops and cars and sending rubble and broken glass as far as three blocks away.

The building was reduced to twisted metal, shattered tiles and concrete, strewn with household items and clothing.
